Bioenergy in Sweden – field excursion for PhD students at SLU

posted Mar 19, 2015, 1:39 AM by Ulrik Ilstedt   [ updated Mar 19, 2015, 1:40 AM ]

In 2013 bioenergy was the single largest energy source in Sweden and the country already reached it’s committed target for the share of renewable energy by 2020 of 49 %. A major part of that energy originates from forest biomass. During this one-day excursion we will follow the forest biomass from the forest to the combined heat and power plant Dova in Umeå managed by Umeå Energi and to the pulp & paper mill in Obbola managed by SCA, where residues are used as process energy and excess heat is liked to the district heating network and to produce “black pellets”.

When: Monday 20 April
